Esma* was born in Sudan, where it was always hard for a Christian family to live, as long as she can remember. She got married to a man who used to be a Muslim and became a passionate committed Christian. He received theological training, became a pastor and started leading a congregation composed of other Muslim background believers such as him. They soon started suffering from severe persecution, and staying in Sudan became impossible.
In 2013, Esma and her family had to move to another country not too far from home. It was not easy to flee, being away from their relatives and from everything they know and took them a lifetime to build. But they chose a place where they could still pastor and support other Sudanese converts.
Currently, MORE supports the work of this family and their discipleship work. They serve as pastors of dozens of Sudanese refugees in their new land. Esma’s heart, however, is to see Sudan transformed by Christ and to be able to care for the people back in her homeland. This resilient woman of God does not only need financial support and encouragement. In order to keep pressing on and continue to be the blessing that she is, she needs prayer.
